Slow Cooker Short Ribs

I think that the absolute best way to cook short ribs is in the slow cooker. I’ve done them on the grill and in the oven also but they always turn out best when you use the slow cooker. The meat is so tender it just falls off the bone. And it’s really easy… hardly any prep time required. This recipe is even easier than most. Usually you sear the ribs in a pan before putting them in the slow cooker but here it’s not required.


Prep time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 8 hours

Serves: 4 - 6

 

Ingredients

  • 2 - 3 pounds grass fed beef short ribs

  • 1 C homemade bone broth

  • ½ onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed

  • 2T tomato paste

  • 1T coconut aminos

  • ½ t dijon mustard

  • ½ t salt

  • ½ t freshly ground pepper

  • 1Tt freshly chopped rosemary and thyme (or 1t dried)

 

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients except for the short ribs in the slow cooker and blend well

  • Place the short ribs in the sauce in the slow cooker and turn each piece to coat well

  • Cook on low for 8 - 9 hours
