Today’s 1% Change: Walk This Way

I never thought about this much, but then I saw this video. No, it’s not Aerosmith. It’s about walking on the balls of your feet, not your heels. I think most of us walk on our heels. I know that when I wear shoes, I do.

 

But I’ve noticed that I naturally walk on the balls of my feet when I go barefoot. And I do go barefoot as much as possible. We have an exposed aggregate driveway. So when I walk on the driveway on my heels, it hurts! Turns out, we should be walking on the balls of our feet all the time. It promotes good posture and it’s really how we’re supposed to be walking.

 

It’s funny… I walk on the balls of my feet when barefoot. But as soon as I put on shoes, I walk on my heels. And it feels funny to walk on the balls of my feet when wearing shoes. That’s both because of habit, and because shoes tend to force you to walk on your heels.

 

So check out the video and give it a try. And go barefoot as much as possible.
