Today’s 1% Change: Making Working Out Work Out

One of the things that I’ve not been great at in the past is working out while traveling. It’s easy to get caught up in actual work and the need to sleep and not take the time to get in a workout. Let’s see… I’m jet lagged. Should I work out or sleep a bit more? In the past sleep always won out.


This trip I decided to make working out every morning a priority. The hotel I’m staying in has an okay, but not great, fitness center. So far I’ve gotten up at 6AM every day and have gotten in a workout. I think it’s helped with the jet lag because after only 2 nights here I already felt pretty normal.


Now the tough part. At home I go for a ride just about every day. That’s not happening here in Poland. They do bike a lot here but not for fitness, it’s to get around. I’ve yet to find a bike shop that rents road bikes so that I can get out for a serious ride. And I don’t want to lose a ton of cycling fitness during the two weeks that I’m here. The first day I went to the fitness center I noticed a couple of stationary bikes. I hate riding stationary bikes. I’ll ride in the nastiest weather there is before climbing on a stationary bike. But here the choice is ride the stationary bike or lose a ton of fitness.


So tomorrow, I’m going to put in some time on the bike in the fitness center. Really looking forward to it :-)
