Funny that I had this one in my list of things to write about and Amazon has a sale on them today on Prime Day. What the heck am I talking about? Using felt dryer balls instead of fabric softener sheets in your dryer.
Here's the thing about dryer sheets… the manufacturers don’t have to list the ingredients on the box because you don’t eat them and you don’t put them on your skin. Oh wait… the stuff on the dryer sheets goes on your clothes and then on your skin and then gets absorbed into your body.. No biggie right?
Wrong. Here’s a little snippet from a Scientific American article: “According to the health and wellness website Sixwise.com, some of the most harmful ingredients in dryer sheets and liquid fabric softener alike include benzyl acetate (linked to pancreatic cancer), benzyl alcohol (an upper respiratory tract irritant), ethanol (linked to central nervous system disorders), limonene (a known carcinogen) and chloroform (a neurotoxin and carcinogen), among others.”
Yeah no thanks, I’d rather not have that stuff on my clothes.
So get some of these felt dryer balls. They work great, they’re completely non-toxic and they last forever (unless you lose them)
