A friend of mine mentioned to me this weekend that she wasn’t sure that she’d had grass fed beef before and wasn’t sure where to get it.
It can be a bit of a hassle at first. If you go to your typical grocery store like Safeway or QFC or Kroger’s and ask for grass fed beef, they’ll give you funny looks. When I was visiting friends in Utah a couple years ago, we went to 3 or 4 different places before we found any.
But it’s getting easier. Here in Redmond, WA I can go to Whole Foods, or my favorite local butcher Gizmo’s in Woodinville. They even have it at the Redmond Saturday Farmer’s Market. And there are several farmers in the area that sell grass fed beef if you want to buy a ¼, ½ or full beef. The easiest way to find a local supplier is to go to EatWlld.com and search for it.
And it’s so worth it… the beef is so much more nutritious and tastes better, the animals are treated better and grass fed beef actually helps restore the soil and our environment.
So make the effort and find it.
And by the way, the pictures are no exaggeration.
