If you drink coffee, and get yours from your favorite local coffee shop, one of the easiest ways to cut back on dairy is to change the coffee drink you’re getting.
Lattes are more milk than coffee. Cappuccinos are more coffee than milk. Americanos are all coffee.
If you’re trying to cut back on milk and you’re ordering a large latte every day, you’re drinking about a quart of milk a week. So an easy way to cut back is to switch to a cappuccino and ask for a dry cappuccino. That’ll have just a little bit of steamed milk instead of a cup or more. And if you get an Americano, it’ll be all coffee.
And whatever you do, don’t order a soy latte. Because, you know… Just Say No to Soy.
Julie and I make espresso at home and add a dollop of full fat coconut milk. Coconut milk makes a great creamer for coffee and I don’t notice any coconut flavor at all.
