You didn’t think I was talking about alcohol did you?
You’ve probably heard this one many times before but it’s still worth repeating. Drink plenty of water. Filtered water of course.
The human body is about 60% water. Our brains are 73% water and our muscles and kidneys are 79% water. So when you allow yourself to get dehydrated, some critical organs are quickly deprived.
Typically you’ll see recommendations to drink at least 8 cups of water per day. You really need more than that. 10-12 cups is more like it. And if you’re exercising or spending time outside on a hot day, you’ll need even more than that. Yes you do get some from food and other drinks. But still you need to drink water.
Just a few of the things that drinking plenty of water helps with:
Helps prevent muscle cramps
Boosts your immune system
Increases energy levels and prevents fatigue
Improves digestion and helps regulate appetite
Keeps your kidneys working properly
Women: It helps prevent UTIs
With all those benefits (and a bunch more) why wouldn’t you want to drink plenty of water?
