There was a commercial several years ago with the tag line, “Pay me now, or pay me later.” That’s the way you have to look at buying organic. Yes, organic foods are more expensive. But in the long run, by avoiding a dose of pesticides and herbicides every time you eat, you’re potentially avoiding costly health issues down the road.
And organic food is just more nutritious. Some studies have shown up to 40% higher levels of some nutrients like vitamin C and zinc. Also by buying organic, you’re avoiding GMO foods and all the negatives that come with them.
Even though you should try to buy all organic, here’s a short list of some of the foods with the heaviest pesticide loads that you should absolutely get organically grown: Strawberries, spinach, nectarines, apples, peaches, pears, cherries, grapes, celery, tomatoes, bell peppers and potatoes.
