Today's 1% Change: Toss the Pasta

I don’t mean toss it like a salad, I mean toss it in the trash.

 

A lot of people cook up some pasta, add some meat and sauce and that’s dinner. It’s easy and it’s what they’re used to doing. And sometimes you might go for something even easier. How about some Hamburger Helper or Chicken Helper? I checked out the ingredients in Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Helper. No surprise the first ingredient is wheat flour with a bunch of additives. But the second ingredient? MSG! There’s more MSG in it than there is Parmesan cheese! Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised but a lot of people have problems with MSG and I’m shocked that it’s the number two ingredient in this product. Just do a Google search for “MSG issues.”

 

But I digress….

 

Yes pasta is easy. No it’s not what you want to be eating. So go into the cupboard and toss the temptation to take the easy way out. I think you’ve seen from most of the recipes that I’ve been posting that there are a ton of great low carb/no grain options. They’re easy to make and delicious!


So toss the pasta and make some Fajitas, or Pineapple Curry or some Seared Scallops and enjoy some real food.
