Today's 1% Change: Be Flexible But Don't Compromise

Sometimes you’ll plan out meals for the week, or have something in mind that you want to have, and then you go to the butcher or grocery store and they simply don’t have what you want. That’s especially true when you’re trying to find grass fed beef or pasture raised poultry or pork.


Today I’d planned on making slow cooker BBQ Beef. It called for grass fed beef chuck roast, which I saw when I was at Whole Foods a couple days ago. Today: No grass fed chuck roast. In fact, they were completely out of all grass fed beef.


So instead, I was able to find some wild frozen prawns and some wild frozen sockeye salmon. This was completely different from what I had in mind but I know I can always make something delicious out of wild prawns and wild salmon.


There will absolutely be times when you get frustrated because you can’t find the ingredients you need. It’s getting easier to find grass fed and pasture raised meats but it’s still not as easy as it should be.


Don’t give up. Be flexible but don’t compromise. There are a lot of great options out there.
