Grilled Spicy Garlic Ginger Prawns

I should have named these “Damn Good Prawns.”  They’re really, really good. And they’re super easy to make, which makes them even better!

Trader Joe’s had some frozen Wild Blue Shrimp the last time I was there and I’m so glad I got them. Fire up the grill, mix up the sauce and coat the shrimp and about 15 minutes later you have a delicious meal. I put the prawns on a bed of shredded Romaine lettuce with some avocado oil and fresh pepper. Awesome!

As always, I made a big batch. Cut it in half if you only want a dinner with no leftovers. But why would you want to do that?

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: Less than 10 minutes

Serves: 4 - 6

  • 2 pounds wild prawns (raw)

  • Zest of one lime

  • Juice from 1/2 lime

  • 2 T organic honey

  • 1T avocado oil

  • ½ t cayenne pepper

  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed

  • ½ - 1 t grated fresh ginger

  • ½ t Himalayan salt or sea salt

  • ½ t ground black pepper

  • Optional garnish: Wedges from the lime

  • Thaw the prawns and pat them dry with paper towels

  • Warm a gas grill to 350 degrees (you can roast them in a 350 degree oven also)

  • In a large bowl, combine honey, avocado oil, lime zest, lime juice, cayenne pepper, garlic, ginger, salt and pepper and mix

  • Add the prawns to the bowl and toss to coat well. If you have time, put them in the fridge and let them marinade for 30 minutes or more. If you don't have time, no worries... they'll still be really good!

  • Place on the grill. When they start turning pink (should be 3 minutes or so) turn them over and cook until pink all the way through

  • Serve with a salad or just eat them up!
